The D.A.R.E. program is a joint effort between the Westampton Police Department, the Westampton School District, and the students and their parents. The D.A.R.E. curriculum is a program that can be used in different formats for students of all grade levels here in Westampton Township.

The core D.A.R.E. program is designed for 5th grade students. It is at this grade level that D.A.R.E. is believed to be the most effective. The 5th grade D.A.R.E. program consists of a 10 week program in which the students meet with trained D.A.R.E. instructors who are certified members of the Westampton Police Department. The D.A.R.E. officers teach the students about the harmful effects of drugs, and alcohol. Students also learn about the types of peer pressure they may be faced with during their adolescent years, as well as ways to deal with these pressures. Students also learn ways to deal with risky situations and the many ways to “Just Say No to Drugs and Alcohol.”

After the 5th grade students complete the D.A.R.E. programs, they are given a dare certificate. They then are treated to a D.A.R.E. graduation party, which is sponsored by the Westampton police D.A.R.E. Unit, the Westampton Township School District, as well as the Westampton Township Parent Teacher Association.
